It seems that there is a ongoing manhunt for Amritpal Singh, the leader of Khalistani group Waris Punjab De, who has been on the run since the Punjab Police launched a massive operation against him and his associates. Recently, a woman named Baljit Kaur was arrested for allegedly giving shelter to Amritpal and his associate Papalpreet Singh in Haryana’s Kurukshetra district. The police have also released CCTV footage showing Amritpal walking in a residential area of Kurukshetra’s Shahabad area. The manhunt has been going on for six days and it appears that Amritpal had plans to flee the country.
It appears that Amritpal Singh has been able to evade the police despite the ongoing search operation and changing his appearance. Over 100 people have been arrested in connection with the manhunt, and security has been increased across the state and at the borders with Himachal Pradesh to prevent Amritpal from fleeing the country. It remains to be seen if the police will be able to capture him and bring him to justice.
Despite heightened security and the arrest of over 100 of his associates, Amritpal Singh is still at large. Some of his aides have been flown to Assam and others have been taken to Dibrugarh Central jail. This crackdown follows the violent incident in which Amritpal Singh and his supporters stormed a police station last month. During the ongoing operation, the police have seized several weapons and ammunition meant for the “Anandpur Khalsa Front.” It remains to be seen if Amritpal Singh will be captured and brought to justice.
