The Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi Police to respond to a bail plea filed by Pinky Irani, a close aide of alleged fraudster Sukesh Chandrasekhar in a ₹200 crore extortion case. Irani has been in custody since her arrest in November 2022. The court has listed the matter for further hearing on May 23 and asked the police to file a status report. The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police alleged in a supplementary charge sheet that Irani had introduced Chandrasekhar to Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez and had facilitated his meetings with certain Bollywood personalities. Chandrasekhar is currently in jail and accused of cheating many people, including high-profile individuals such as former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh. Sukesh Chandrasekhar and his associates allegedly posed as government officials and promised to secure bail for Shivinder Mohan Singh, who was in jail in a money laundering case.
They reportedly persuaded Singh’s wife Aditi to transfer money to them by impersonating as central government officials over a spoof call, promising to manage bail for her husband. Chandrasekhar is currently in jail and has been accused of cheating many people, including high-profile individuals. The police alleged that Chandrasekhar and his associates used a spoofing technique to impersonate government officials and convinced Aditi to transfer money for the bail of her husband. They further alleged that Chandrasekhar, who was in jail at the time, made the spoof call to Aditi by using a SIM card that was registered in the name of one of his associates.
