Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray has written a letter to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal, seeking clarification over a possible scam in the purchase of street furniture worth ₹263 crores.
Thackeray alleged that the entire process seemed rigged in favor of a particular contractor friend of the BMC. Last month, he had accused the civic body of planning to buy street furniture, including benches, as part of a project that would cost ₹263 crores. Thackeray said that these products should be purchased on a need basis by civic wards and not centrally through one tender.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader has sought access to the report of the three-member fact-finding committee and the quality tests of all the bidders conducted by the Veer Jijamata Technological University.
