During a joint press briefing with the Foreign Minister of Panama, Janaina Tewaney Mencomo, in Panama City, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar indirectly criticized Pakistan and stated that it is difficult to engage with a neighbor who practices cross-border terrorism against India. The press briefing was held to discuss several bilateral issues related to health and trade between India and Panama. The External Affairs Minister also attended an India-Latin America Business event and delivered a keynote address highlighting the strong prospects of India-Panama business collaboration. Following his visit to Panama, S Jaishankar will be visiting Colombia and the Dominican Republic to review bilateral ties and inaugurate India’s resident embassy in Santo Domingo, respectively.
Mr Jaishankar and Colombia’s counterpart Alvaro Leyva Duran will review the bilateral ties. Following his visit to Colombia, Mr Jaishankar will head to the Dominican Republic, according to an MEA release.
The visit to the Dominican Republic is the highest-level visit from India since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1999. Mr Jaishankar’s visit takes place after the establishment of India’s resident Embassy in Santo Domingo in 2022.
During his visit to Colombia, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will review the bilateral ties with his counterpart Alvaro Leyva Duran. Following his visit to Colombia, he will head to the Dominican Republic, which is the highest-level visit from India since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1999. During his visit to the Dominican Republic, S Jaishankar is expected to call on the country’s political leadership and formally inaugurate the Indian resident mission.
