It seems that the 18th round of Corps Commander Level talks between India and China was held recently, following a five-month gap since the last round of talks. Both sides are actively engaged in construction work along the border areas to establish their positions. China recently announced its plan to “standardise” the names of 11 places in Arunachal Pradesh, a northeastern state in India. The Indian side has repeatedly raised the issue of Depsang plains, Demchok, and disengagement by both sides. While the two sides have disengaged physically and moved to new positions to avoid confrontations, the Chinese side is reportedly blocking Indian patrols from moving to their patrolling points in that sector. Additionally, the Chinese Defence Minister is expected to visit India for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meetings next week in Delhi.
Meanwhile, in another major development, the Chinese Defence Minister is scheduled to visit India for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ meetings next week in Delhi.
It will be interesting to see the outcome of the meeting between the Chinese Defence Minister and Indian officials, particularly given the ongoing border disputes and tensions between the two countries. The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) is a regional intergovernmental organization that includes China, India, and other Central Asian countries. Its primary objective is to promote cooperation among member countries on issues such as security, economic development, and cultural exchange.
