Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has accused the Congress party of being under the control of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Popular Front of India (PFI) and engaging in appeasement politics. He stated that when the BJP speaks against these organizations, Congress leaders get disturbed, indicating how the grand old party is doing appeasement politics. He further claimed that the SDPI and PFI became strong during the Congress regime and that Congress is making such allegations to cover its mistakes.
Regarding the recent controversy over Bajrangdal’s link with Lord Hanuman, the CM said that Bajrangdal has a relationship with Lord Anjaneya and it was not right for Congress leaders to hurt the sentiments of people. He added that the BJP is focusing on its programs in the upcoming assembly election while the Congress party is relying on its assurances. He urged against raking up unnecessary issues and instigating along caste and religious lines, stating that it shows the appeasement politics of the Congress party.
The CM’s comments came in response to former AICC President Sonia Gandhi’s poll campaign in Hubballi. In reaction to her campaign, the CM said that they will not ask why Modi and Shah are coming to Karnataka like the Congress leaders, and that they will not cry like them.
The political climate in Karnataka is heating up with the upcoming assembly election. The Congress party has been trying to gain momentum with Sonia Gandhi’s campaign and is focusing on issues such as the BJP’s alleged links to the Bajrangdal and the government’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The BJP, on the other hand, is relying on its track record and development programs to woo voters.
