In a remarkable turn of events, a 32-year-old woman who had been kidnapped 17 years ago in 2006 was discovered in Delhi’s Gokalpuri, as announced by the police on Thursday. The Seemapuri Police Station team, acting on confidential information, successfully traced the woman who had been abducted when she was just a young girl.
The case of the woman’s kidnapping was originally registered under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) back in 2006 at the Gokulpuri Police Station in Delhi, following a complaint filed by her parents. Their relentless search for their missing daughter had finally yielded positive results after an extensive period of 17 years.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shahdara, Rohit Meena, the police team managed to locate the woman on 22nd May, thanks to a lead obtained through covert sources. The woman, now 32 years old, had been living in Gokalpuri in rented accommodation after leaving the person she had been residing with, named Deepak, during the lockdown period. She revealed during the investigation that she had been residing with Deepak in the village of Cherdih in the Balia district of Uttar Pradesh, but had left him due to a dispute.
This surprising discovery brings hope to the families of missing persons and highlights the relentless efforts of the police in their search for abducted individuals. The fact that the woman was found after such a long period serves as a reminder that investigations into missing persons’ cases should never be completely abandoned, as there is always a possibility of reuniting families even after many years.
DCP Rohit Meena further revealed that the Shahdara district police have accomplished remarkable success in recovering missing persons and kidnapped or abducted children. As of the present year, the district has successfully recovered 116 kidnapped or abducted children and individuals, along with 301 missing persons. These numbers signify the dedication and effectiveness of the police force in their efforts to locate and rescue missing individuals, providing hope to families who have long been searching for their loved ones.
This recent development serves as a testament to the significance of ongoing investigations and the importance of not losing hope in cases of missing persons. The discovery of the woman after 17 years showcases the perseverance and commitment of the police, who continue to work diligently to reunite families and bring closure to such cases. It also emphasizes the need for continued efforts in combating crimes such as abduction and kidnapping, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in society.
