A tragic incident unfolded in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden area on Wednesday, as a 35-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by two contract killers hired by her 71-year-old husband. The police responded to the scene around 2:30 pm and discovered the lifeless body of the woman, who had suffered multiple stab wounds.
During the subsequent inquiry, it was revealed that the victim had married SK Gupta in November of the previous year. Gupta, who is 71 years old, had entered into the marriage with the belief that his wife would provide care for his physically challenged and cerebral palsy-afflicted son, Amit, who is 45 years old. However, it appeared that the woman did not fulfill Gupta’s expectations. Consequently, Gupta decided to seek a divorce, but his wife demanded a sum of ₹1 crore in exchange for granting the divorce.
Determined to rid himself of his wife without meeting her financial demand, Gupta sought the assistance of Vipin, an individual who used to accompany Amit to the hospital. Together with his son, Gupta conspired with Vipin to carry out the murder. Gupta promised Vipin ₹10 lacks as payment for the killing and provided an advance payment of ₹2.40 lakh.
According to the police, Vipin and his associate Himanshu went to Gupta’s residence as planned and fatally stabbed the woman. Both assailants sustained injuries during the attack. In an attempt to mislead investigators, they ransacked the house and stole the victim’s and Amit’s mobile phones, making it appear as if a robbery had taken place.
Significantly, Amit was present at home at the time of the murder. Based on the evidence gathered, the police arrested four individuals in connection with the incident: SK Gupta, Amit Gupta, Vipin Sethi (45), and Himanshu (20). All four suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime. The authorities are currently working to recover the stolen phones, blood-stained clothes, and scooters used during the commission of the murder.
This shocking incident highlights the tragic consequences of a troubled relationship and the lengths to which individuals can go when driven by desperation or misguided intentions. The police investigation will continue as they strive to gather further evidence and ensure that justice is served for the victim.
