The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made some big promises ahead of the upcoming state elections in Karnataka. One of the major promises is the launch of the ‘Poshane’ scheme, which would provide half a liter of ‘Nandini’ milk and 5 kg monthly ration kits to those in the below poverty line (BPL) category. Additionally, the BJP has promised to give three free LPG cylinders to BPL families during Yugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Diwali.
The BJP has also promised to establish ‘Atal Aahara Kendra’ in every ward of every municipal corporation to provide affordable and quality food across the state. The party’s manifesto, named ‘BJP Praja Pranalike’, was released by JP Nadda, the BJP chief, today.
Other promises made by the BJP include the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in the state based on the recommendations of a high-level committee to be formed for the purpose. The party has also promised the introduction of the National Register of Citizens and the speedy deportation of illegal migrants.
The BJP has also promised to build 10 lakh houses for the homeless under the ‘Sarvarigu Suru Yojane’. It has also pledged to launch a scheme to provide a matching deposit of up to ₹10,000 on five-year fixed deposits made by SC/ST women.
It is worth noting that the BJP is currently in power in Karnataka, and these promises are part of their efforts to retain power in the state. The elections are scheduled for May 10.
