Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has called Rahul Gandhi’s recent promises and allegations as the “laziest type of politics” without any intention to improve people’s lives. Chandrasekhar expressed confidence that the ongoing rebellion of some key BJP leaders in Karnataka will not affect the party’s chances of winning a majority in the coming assembly polls. He claimed that the BJP has come to be identified with the state’s future, while the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) represent the “lazy, entitled, and exploitative” politics of the past. Chandrasekhar also criticized the Congress for creating divisions in the state’s largest community, the Lingayats, and claimed that there is support for the BJP among various communities due to the work of its government in the state and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre.
“We will find that on May 13 they will not only lose (the election), but whatever respect they have earned over the last several decades as BJP members, they will have lost that as well,” he said.
Asked about the Congress accusing the BJP of insulting Lingayat leaders, he said the opposition party has a history of creating divisions in the state’s largest community, believed to be around 17 per cent of the total population.
Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Lingayat leaders who defected from the BJP to Congress or JD(S) will not only lose the upcoming elections but also the respect they had earned as BJP members. He also accused the Congress of creating divisions in the Lingayat community, which is believed to be around 17 percent of the total population. According to him, the BJP enjoys support from various communities, including Lingayats, Vokkaligas, and Dalits, because of the good governance of the BJP government in the state and the central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
