Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit the state of Karnataka for a two-day visit, which includes taking part in a party rally in Kolar on Sunday. This is his first visit to the state after being disqualified from the Lok Sabha following his conviction in a 2019 defamation case. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign in Kolar, he made a comment that led to his conviction and disqualification from Parliament. After his address in Kolar, Rahul Gandhi will return to Bengaluru and interact with sanitation workers and street vendors in the state capital. On Monday, he will address public meetings in Bidar district and travel to Hyderabad before flying back to Delhi. The Congress party has announced candidates for 209 seats out of the 224-seat assembly in Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi will interact with the ‘Pourakarmika’ (sanitation workers) and street vendors in the state capital in the evening. After that, he will inaugurate the newly-built Indira Gandhi Bhawan, which consists of an office and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 people in the city.
In the afternoon, the Gandhi scion will travel to Hyderabad by a helicopter from where he will fly back to Delhi. For the 224-seat assembly, the Congress has so far announced candidates for 209 seats, including 124 in the first list, 42 in the second list and 43 in the third. It seems like Rahul Gandhi has a packed schedule in Karnataka, where he will address several public meetings and interact with various groups, including sanitation workers and street vendors. After his visit to Karnataka, Mr. Gandhi will travel to Hyderabad before flying back to Delhi.
The Kolar event, which was earlier called ‘Satyameva Jayate’, was scheduled to take place on April 5, but was postponed twice. The even renamed as ‘Jai Bharat’ rally was rescheduled to April 16. After his address in Kolar, the Congress leader will return to Bengaluru by helicopter in the afternoon.
