The Rajasthan BJP chief, CP Joshi, has taken a swipe at the ruling Congress party amid the ongoing tussle between Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot. Joshi, who was on his maiden visit to Jodhpur, Gehlot’s hometown, to take part in a BJP protest against the state government’s policies, said that anyone from the Congress with chief ministerial aspirations is termed “nikamma” (worthless) and pushed away by the party, comparing it to the BJP’s situation with multiple leaders claiming the top post. The Rajasthan Assembly elections are due later this year. CP Joshi, the Rajasthan BJP chief, has urged Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to forget the past and move on instead of being vengeful.
Joshi’s comment came in an apparent reference to Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat’s victory over Gehlot’s son Vibhav Gehlot from the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency in the 2019 general elections. Joshi was in Jodhpur to participate in the BJP’s ‘Jan Aakrosh Mahagherao’ protest against the state government’s policies. The BJP and the Congress are gearing up for the Rajasthan Assembly elections, which are due later this year. CP Joshi, the Rajasthan BJP chief, criticized the state government over the recent acquittal of those accused in the Jaipur serial blasts, which claimed the lives of 71 people. He affirmed that the BJP is committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families and will fight until the terrorists responsible are punished, even if it means spending crores of rupees.
