The chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Mohan Bhagwat, has stated that India should nurture the knowledge of the Vedas and Sanskrit to become a ‘vishwa guru’, a world leader. Bhagwat emphasized that Indian culture is not orthodox and does not dictate what to eat or not eat. He further added that India’s goal is not to become a superpower like America, China, or Russia, but to become a country that offers solutions to global problems, shows the path of peace, love, and prosperity through right conduct, and propagates ‘dharma.’ Bhagwat believes that India’s culture is based on the unity of the world and that it is the duty of the country to offer what belongs to it whenever anyone needs it. He also highlighted that Sri Lanka turned towards India when it was in trouble because India believes in Dharma and does not take advantage of anyone. Finally, Bhagwat said that for a country to perform its duty, it needs a culture that is based on the unity of the world, and Indian culture changes with time.
The India of today has the strength to say this to the world’s superpowers, something it lacked in the past,” he said.
Sri Lanka was once a friend of China and Pakistan and kept India at a distance, but the island nation turned towards India when it was in trouble (economic downturn).
According to Mohan Bhagwat, the RSS chief, India has now gained the strength to express its position to the world’s superpowers, which it lacked in the past. He cited the example of Sri Lanka, which was previously closer to China and Pakistan but turned towards India when it faced an economic downturn. He further added that India’s culture and dharma are based on the unity of the world, and it does not take advantage of anyone but believes in mutual existence through an exchange of love, not a bargain.
