Russia fires over Ukraine from air with over 120 missiles. A fresh storm of Russian strikes attacked Ukraine on Thursday. This attack wounded at least three people which also include a teenager in Kyiv and cut electricity in the west. Across the country and also in the Ukrainian capital blasts were reported on thursday morning, the second city was Kharkiv in the east and the western city of Lviv on the border with Poland. The mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadoviy, said that Russian strikes are still rare but the city was left without electricity.
“The enemy is attacking Ukraine from various directions with air and sea-based cruise missiles from strategic aircraft and ships,” Ukraine’s air force said on social media, calling the attack “massive.”
After a series of humiliating battlefield setbacks and lost territory this summer and autumn, Moscow has stepped up its aerial campaign repeatedly targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with drones and missiles.
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko has said that a total of three people were wounded in the strikes, which also include a 14-year-old girl. He also alerted of potential power cuts and called on residents to accumulate on water. Due to missiles, two private houses were also hit in the east of the capital while an industrial company and a playground was damaged in the city’s southwest, as reported by the city administrators. As the mayor Igor Terekhov said that In the east, a “series of explosions” hit Ukraine’s second city Kharkiv.
Governor Oleg Synegubov said “critical infrastructure” was targeted in the region of Kharkiv and its main city where four missiles hit eastern and southern areas. In the historic city of Lviv, Mayor Sadoviy forewarned of potential water cuts. In the south, the governor of Odessa Maksym Marchenko said air defence has shot down 21 missiles over the region. Lviv governor Maksim Kozytski said that air defence was at work and called on residents to stay in shelters.
