The police have arrested three persons, including two scrap dealers, and claimed to have solved cases of motorcycle theft in Thane and Mumbai cities. The police recovered 12 stolen motorcycles from the trio. Several cases of motorcycle theft were reported at the Mumbra police station in Thane, and a team of police investigating the offences worked on intelligence inputs and examined CCTV footage. The police laid a trap on April 15 and nabbed the first accused, a 29-year-old scrap dealer, who revealed the involvement of two more persons in the offence. The trio worked together and stole motorcycles, the parts of which they later sold as scrap.
The police have seized a total of 12 stolen motorcycles from the trio and found that they had committed such thefts in Mumbra, Kalwa (in Thane), Marine Drive, and Shivaji Park (in Mumbai) police stations. It is common for stolen vehicles to be dismantled and sold as scrap by thieves. However, this illegal activity can cause a significant loss to the original owner of the vehicle. In this case, the police were able to recover 12 stolen motorcycles and arrest three persons involved in the thefts. It is important for vehicle owners to take precautions to prevent theft, such as using secure locks and parking in well-lit areas. Additionally, people should avoid purchasing parts from unauthorized dealers and report any suspicious activity to the police.
