In a heart-wrenching incident on Thursday, a leisurely picnic by 27 school students at Harni Lake on the outskirts of Vadodara, Gujarat, turned into a nightmare when their boat overturned. At least six children lost their lives in the tragic accident, prompting a swift and coordinated response from rescue teams.
Gujarat education minister Kuber Dindor informed the public that a search operation had been initiated to locate the missing students. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and fire brigade personnel were promptly deployed to the scene, reflecting the gravity of the situation.
Vadodara district collector A B Gor and chief fire officer Parth Brahmbhatt provided updates on the ongoing rescue efforts. While the fire brigade managed to save seven students, the search for the remaining ones continued. Local residents also played a crucial role by rescuing some children before official personnel arrived.
