On Monday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka assembly polls, calling it “development-centric” and highlighting the party’s commitment to building a prosperous and developed Karnataka. The manifesto, titled ‘BJP Praja Pranalike’, was released by BJP President J P Nadda in Bengaluru.
However, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Prime Minister for focusing too much on himself and not speaking enough about what he has done for Karnataka in the past three years. During a public meeting in Tumakuru district, Gandhi urged Modi to talk about his plans for the state’s future, particularly in areas such as education, health, and youth development.
Gandhi also accused the BJP of widespread corruption in Karnataka and taking a 40% commission on all government work instead of serving the public. He emphasized the importance of this election for Karnataka’s people, youth, and mothers, and urged voters to ensure that the BJP only gets 40 seats and Congress at least 150 seats to prevent the buying of MLAs and the downfall of a democratically-elected government.
During his speech, Gandhi also highlighted Congress’s poll guarantees, including free power, monthly assistance for women heads of households, free rice for BPL households, and financial aid for graduate and diploma holders in the age group of 18-25.
Overall, the speeches from both Modi and Gandhi highlighted the stark differences between the BJP and Congress in their visions for Karnataka’s future and their approaches to governance.
