The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is entering its final stages, and all ten teams are still in with a chance of making the playoffs. The defending champions Gujarat Titans are in pole position with 16 points from 11 matches and are almost guaranteed a spot in the final four. They only need one win from their last three games to ensure their qualification.
The Chennai Super Kings have strengthened their position with a win over the Delhi Capitals, and need just one more win from their remaining two games to qualify for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, have also made a comeback after a slow start and can reach the playoffs with two wins.
Lucknow Super Giants are currently in fourth place with 11 points from 11 matches but will need to win all three remaining matches to have a chance of qualifying. Rajasthan Royals, with 10 points from 11 games, also need to win all three of their remaining games but have a better net run rate.
Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore both need to win all of their remaining games to stay in the competition. Punjab Kings face a similar scenario and will need to win all three remaining matches to have any chance of qualification. Sunrisers Hyderabad have played a game less than most teams and will need to win all four of their remaining matches to reach the 16-point mark, which is the minimum required to stay in contention.
The Delhi Capitals, led by David Warner, are currently at the bottom of the points table and need to win all of their remaining games to have any chance of reaching the playoffs. The loss against CSK was a major setback for their hopes of qualification, as they can now only reach a maximum of 14 points.
The IPL has been a closely contested tournament this year, with several teams still in the race for the playoffs. The final stages promise to be exciting as the teams battle it out for a place in the final four.
