Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has welcomed the results of the Karnataka Assembly elections as a positive sign for the country and stated that the people have given a befitting reply to the BJP. According to the Election Commission of India, the Congress party won 135 seats, pushing the BJP out of power in the only southern state it ruled, while the BJP managed to win 66 seats. The Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) bagged 19 seats.
Vijayan claimed that the election results show that there is a strong feeling prevailing in the country that the BJP should not come to power again. He warned the Congress party to learn from its past mistakes, stating that the BJP will not remain content in being in opposition. He also said that Congress leaders should be careful not to repeat history where Congress MLAs supported BJP’s attempt to come to power, despite losing the election.
The Chief Minister also urged the Congress party to accept the political reality in neighboring states of Kerala where parties different from the Congress are in power. He stated that the aim should be to remove the BJP from power, and Congress should play its part in achieving this. He further claimed that if the BJP comes to power again at the center, it would be a complete disaster for the country.
Vijayan noted that the BJP was desperate to win the Karnataka elections, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi campaigning in the state for 10 days and conducting half a dozen roadshows. He said the people took the election seriously, and the results show that they were fed up with the BJP’s rule.
He also highlighted that the election results mean there is no BJP rule in any state in South India. He stated that the election result in Karnataka is a boost to all such attempts to consolidate anti-BJP votes from each state, which he believes is currently happening in the country.
In conclusion, the Kerala Chief Minister has welcomed the Karnataka Assembly election results and stated that it is a positive sign for the country. He believes that the Congress party should learn from its past mistakes and aim to remove the BJP from power and that if the BJP comes to power again at the center, it would be a complete disaster for the country.
