A school in Delhi was evacuated today following a bomb threat received via email, according to the police. The incident occurred at the Amrita School located in Delhi’s Pushp Vihar when the school administration received a threat email at approximately 6:35 am. The administration immediately informed the police, who promptly responded to the situation.
Upon receiving the information, bomb squad officials were dispatched to the school, and a thorough search of the premises was conducted. Fortunately, no suspicious objects were found during the search, ensuring the safety of the students and staff.
Chandan Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, stated that the Bomb Disposal Team meticulously checked the school and concluded that there was no imminent threat. The prompt and efficient response from the authorities helped alleviate the fears and concerns of the school community.
This incident follows a similar occurrence at Delhi Public School (DPS) on Mathura Road just two weeks ago. DPS received a threat email claiming the presence of a bomb on its premises, resulting in the evacuation and subsequent sanitization of the school. During their investigation, the police discovered that the email was sent from an account belonging to a minor student of DPS. The student admitted to planning the prank “just for fun” during a counseling session with the police.
In another incident last month, ‘The Indian School’ in Delhi also received a bomb threat, leading to the evacuation of the premises while the bomb squad and other agencies thoroughly inspected the area for any potential explosive substances. Subsequently, the threat email was deemed to be a hoax.
These instances of bomb threats targeting schools have raised concerns about the safety and security of educational institutions. Schools need to have robust security measures in place to promptly respond to such threats and ensure the well-being of students and staff.
Law enforcement agencies are working diligently to identify the individuals behind these hoax threats and take appropriate legal action. Prank emails and false threats not only disrupt the normal functioning of schools but also waste valuable resources and cause unnecessary panic among students, parents, and school authorities.
As incidents like these continue to occur, schools, parents, and students must remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information to the authorities. By working together, the community can contribute to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for everyone involved.
