Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has asserted that the entire coastal region of Karnataka is a fortress of secular forces, including the Janata Dal (S) while addressing reporters during his visit to Mangaluru North constituency to campaign for party candidate Mohiuddin Bava.
Deve Gowda appealed to voters to support Bava, who switched to JD(S) after being denied a ticket by Congress, and stated that surveys among voters favored Bava’s candidature. The former PM accused Congress of deliberately denying Bava a ticket and questioned who was responsible for the BJP coming to power after a secular government was formed under the JD(S).
Deve Gowda pointed out that the JD(S) has had a close relationship with the people of Dakshina Kannada in the past, with five zilla panchayat members and three MLAs who were elected from the region. He highlighted Bava’s work on the ground in the Mangaluru North constituency and said that his party had chosen him as their candidate after observing his dedication to public service.
During his tenure as Chief Minister, HD Kumaraswamy launched several schemes that benefited the common man, Deve Gowda said. He urged voters to support JD(S) in the upcoming assembly elections in Karnataka.
