In the world of Bollywood, clashes at the box office are not uncommon, and the latest showdown is brewing between two highly anticipated films – Ajay Devgn’s “Maidaan” and Ali Abbas Zafar’s “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.” Both scheduled for an April 2024 release on Eid, these movies promise to bring different flavors to the big screen.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh recently took to social media to announce the new release date for “Maidaan.” Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and co-produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, “Maidaan” is a period sports drama that pays homage to the golden years of Indian football.
Ajay Devgn steps into the shoes of the legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim, often hailed as the founding father of Indian football. Rahim served as the coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his passing in 1963. The film boasts a stellar cast, including Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh.
However, the plot thickens as Pooja Entertainment has already secured the same release date for “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” a buddy action movie starring the dynamic duo of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. The clash sets the stage for a fierce competition at the box office, where both films will vie for audience attention and ticket sales.
“Maidaan” faced its share of challenges during production. In 2020, producer Boney Kapoor had to dismantle the film set due to the COVID-19 lockdown. The setbacks continued in May 2021 when Cyclone Tauktae wreaked havoc, destroying the “Maidaan” set. Despite these obstacles, the team persevered, and now the film is gearing up for its much-anticipated release.
As cinephiles eagerly await the clash of these cinematic titans, the success of “Maidaan” and “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan” will not only be measured in box office numbers but also in the impact they leave on audiences. The question remains: Which film will emerge victorious in this battle for the spotlight on Eid in April 2024? Only time will tell as fans brace themselves for a cinematic spectacle.
