Congress leader Pawan Khera, who was forced to deboard from an aeroplane and was arrested by the Delhi police on Thursday morning, moved the Supreme Court for relief in multiple FIRs lodged against him for alleged reflections against PM Modi. Khera told the apex court that multiple FIRs have been lodged against him in Varanasi, Lucknow and Assam.
SC agreed to hear his plea at 3 pm after concluding the Constitution bench’s hail for the day. Before, Delhi Police said that the action against Khera was in the case of Assam police. Lately, Khera had pertained to PM Narendra Modi, whose middle name is Damodardas, as ‘Narendra Gautamdas Modi,’ while criticising him about his connection with Gautam Adani. colorful BJP leaders spoke against this, saying that Khare disrespected the PM’s father, and police cases followed. Congress leader Randeep Surjewala accompanied Khera to a police station at the field where there was a huge deployment of CISF.
The counsel appearing for Assam Police told the Supreme Court that Khera was arrested and would be presented before the court for conveyance remand. Assam Police said the Congress leader used ”depreciatory reflections” against a ”democratically tagged PM”. The Congress leader was arrested by the Assam Police the day after he was deboarded from the Raipur- bound IndiGo flight at Delhi field. Multiple cases were registered against the party leader at some places in Assam. Khera said he was ready to fight a long battle as the police took him down after he was detained at the Delhi field.
“We’ve requested Delhi police to arrest him (Pawan Khera). We’ll bring him to Assam after taking authorization from the original court,”Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, IGP Law & Order and Spokesperson of Assam police, told news agency ANI. Khera lately pertained to the Prime Minister as “Narendra Gautamdas Modi” while criticising the Central government over the row involving the business empire headed by Gautam Adani.
