Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell and his wife Vini Raman announced on social media that they are expecting their first child in September 2023. The couple got married in March 2022 and Raman accompanied Maxwell during his stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. In her Instagram post, Raman shared that they had faced fertility struggles and encouraged others who may be going through the same to stay strong.
The announcement received a lot of love and well-wishes from fans and celebrities, including Bollywood actress and Maxwell’s RCB teammate Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma, who left a heart emoji in the comments.
Maxwell has been in fine form for RCB in IPL 2023, and in a recent video shared by the team on their official Twitter handle, he revealed that he had once been compared to Kohli, which he considers one of the biggest compliments he has ever received. “It was completely unnecessary and not even true but I had a couple of good knocks and got compared to Virat which was quite nice,” Maxwell said.
The Australian all-rounder also shared his experience of being chased by fans while driving with fellow RCB player Faf du Plessis in India. “Anytime you are going through an airport in India it’s pretty crazy. Yesterday, in the car people were chasing me and Faf down the road and banging on the windows, that was interesting,” he said.
Maxwell, who is known for his explosive batting and agile fielding, has been a key player for RCB in the ongoing IPL season. The team is currently in third place in the points table, with five wins from eight matches.
