A man has been arrested by Hyderabad Police for the murder of a woman, reminiscent of the recent Shraddha Walker case. The accused, identified as B. Chandra Mohan (48), allegedly stabbed the victim, Anuradha Reddy, and subsequently dismembered her body for disposal.
The incident came to light on May 17 when a complaint was filed by a Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) worker who discovered the head of an unidentified woman in a black cover at a garbage dumping site near the Musi River. Following the complaint, the police formed eight teams to investigate the matter, leading to the identification of the accused.
During the interrogation, it was revealed that Chandra Mohan had a relationship with the deceased and had accommodated her in a part of his house since 2018. Over time, the accused allegedly borrowed a significant amount, approximately ₹7 lakhs, from Anuradha Reddy, but failed to repay her despite her repeated requests. The victim had been pressuring the accused for the money, which reportedly led to his disgust with her and his subsequent plan to eliminate her.
According to the police, the accused executed his plan on May 12. He initiated an argument with the deceased regarding the repayment of the amount and attacked her with a knife, inflicting fatal stab wounds to her chest and stomach. After her death, Chandra Mohan purchased two small stone-cutting machines to dismember the body.
He beheaded the victim and preserved the head in a black polythene cover. The accused further separated the legs and hands from the torso using the stone-cutting machine and stored them in the refrigerator. The trunk of the body was kept in a suitcase for disposal.
On May 15, the accused dumped the beheaded head of the deceased at the garbage dumping site. He also used various substances such as phenyl, Dettol, perfume agarbatti, karpuram, and perfume spray bottles to prevent the spread of a foul odor. Additionally, Chandra Mohan took the victim’s cell phone and sent messages to her acquaintances to create the illusion that she was alive and staying elsewhere.
This incident bears resemblance to the recent case of Shraddha Walkar’s murder in Delhi, where the accused, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, also dismembered the victim’s body into multiple pieces.
The police are currently investigating the matter, and the accused will face legal proceedings for his alleged crimes.
