Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, criticized the country’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, for their recent foreign trips while the country is facing crises.
Sharif is currently in the UK for the coronation of King Charles III while Bhutto visited India on Thursday to attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers in Goa.
Khan addressed a PTI rally in Lahore, where he accused the two leaders of humiliating Pakistan in the world. He asked Bhutto what benefit had been gained from the India trip and questioned whether he had considered the costs to the country.
At the SCO meeting, India’s External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, said terrorism in all its forms must be stopped, including cross-border terrorism, which is widely seen as a reference to Pakistan. Khan also accused Pakistan of backing terrorists in Kashmir, a claim that has been denied by the country’s leaders. The PTI rally was held in support of the Supreme Court, the Constitution, and the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Umar Ata Bandial.
