Ankit Love, the son of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) founder Bhim Singh, has been removed from a blacklist and issued an emergency visa to attend his mother’s funeral in India. Love was blacklisted after participating in an anti-government protest in London last year that led to him throwing eggs and stones at the Indian High Commission. In an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Love apologised for his actions and requested permission to return to perform the last rites of his mother, Jay Mala. After his apology was considered by the government, he was provided with a three-month emergency visa to attend his mother’s last rites.
Mala, a Supreme Court lawyer, died on April 26 and her body has been kept at the mortuary of Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu after Love requested it be kept there till he returns to perform the last rites.
This comes even as his relatives are engaged in a tussle to take control of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), which has been in disarray following Bhim Singh’s death on May 31, 2022. Love could not attend his father’s funeral as well.
It is unfortunate that Ankit Love could not attend his father’s funeral and the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has been in disarray following Bhim Singh’s death. The situation is further complicated by the ongoing tussle among the relatives to take control of the party. In the meantime, Ankit Love’s mother’s body has been kept at the mortuary of Government Medical College (GMC) hospital in Jammu until he returned to perform the last rites. It is hoped that the situation will be resolved soon and that Ankit Love will be able to attend to his family matters without further delay.
