West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamta Banerjee picked up a Garo drum from a youthful drummer on a sunny Tuesday and played it precisely as she walked into the State Central Library lot then in bound Meghalaya. She stopped herself from dancing with the troops of Garo, Khasi and Jaintia, the three major lines that call the shots in the Christian maturity state but the communication was loud and clear. She was then to remove “the rumour” reportedly spread by the ruling National People’s Party( NPP) and its supporter BJP that TMC is a Bengali party.
Many TMC leaders holding party posts across Meghalaya attended the worker’s convention then. A videotape shows her playing a barrel before shaking a leg with the folk artists as she imitated their way. The party also participated filmland from her visit and thanked the people of Meghalaya for humongous support. In the filmland, the TMC supremo can also be seen slipping traditional Meghalayan cap. A large public rally was organised in Mendipathar, North Garo Hills quarter of Meghalaya. Trinamool leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee, were also present at the rally.
In her speech, Mamata Banerjee said that the Trinamool’s primary focus in the choices is to lay off the BJP. During her commerce with party workers, the TMC leader stressed the work taken up by her party in West Bengal similar as social security programmes and schemes. TMC general clerk Abishek Banerjee said nearly one lakh people has joined the party since they launched a class drive in June this time. Meghalaya will be run from Meghalaya only, not from Guwahati or Delhi as is being done now. “We want the sons of this soil to run Meghalaya”, Banerjee said.
Mukul Sangma, TMC’s state principal Charlse Pyngrope also addressed party workers. The West Bengal CM assured to raise the issue of the Meghalaya- Assam interstate boundary and resolve it if suggested to power. Recalling that she had visited the state before when the late PA Sangma queried the MP choices, she said she knows the Khasi, Garo and Jaintia lines.
