The Aam Aadmi Party has begun its civil demurrers against the arrest of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia in connection with the alleged Delhi liquor excise policy case. Party workers are carrying demurrers in Bhopal, Chandigarh, Delhi and other metropolises amid tight security. A large number of workers and sympathizers are also anticipated to gather outside the CBI headquarters in Delhi. Sisodia was arrested on Sunday, after an eight- hour questioning session by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Still, principal minister Arvind Kejriwal said there’s no substantiation against Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case and CBI officers were divided over arresting Sisodia. “I’m told that the utmost CBI officers were against Manish’s arrest. All of them have huge respect for him and there’s no substantiation against him. But the political pressure to arrest him was so high that they had to observe their political masters,” Kejriwal said in a tweet. The Jammu fiefdom unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Monday held a demonstration outside J&K BJP headquarters then in Trikuta Nagar in kick against the arrest of Delhi’s Education Minister Manish Sisodia.
Raising taglines against the BJP government at the Centre, the protestors contended that the Central government was trying to monkeyshine Opposition voices by arresting their leaders in false cases, while those really involved in swindles are the BJP’s musketeers. They also indicted BJP leaders of being arrogant, adding that the AAP will consolidate its movement in the coming days. Hitting out at the Modi government, AAP MP Sanjay Singh in a presser moment said that the Centre got Sisodia arrested to divert the public attention from outrage over the Adani issue. “People are watching, will ensure justice, AAP born out of movements, we are not spooked of going to jail,” said Sanjay Singh. In its chargesheet filed last time, the CBI had mentioned Manish Sisodia as indicted number one in the content corruption in Delhi’s now scrapped new excise policy.
