The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered a probe into a pilot of an Air India flight operating from Dubai to Delhi, who allegedly entertained a female friend in the cockpit on February 27. The pilot reportedly asked a member of the cabin crew to serve food and drinks to his friend and make the cockpit appear welcoming before inviting her in. The woman reportedly spent over an hour in the cockpit. A complaint was registered against the pilot by a member of the cabin crew, and Air India said that it has taken “serious note” of the incident and investigations are underway. In a separate development, the DGCA has issued an advisory to airlines to sensitize pilots and crew on dealing with unruly fliers. Sentitise Pilots, Crew Rules on Dealing with Unruly Fliers, DGCA Tells Airlines
Earlier this month, a South Africa-bound flight was forced to make an emergency landing after its pilot noticed a highly venomous Cape Cobra inside the cockpit at 11,000ft in the air. The incident with the Cape Cobra inside the cockpit of a South Africa-bound flight is certainly concerning. It’s good to see that the DGCA is taking steps to ensure the safety and well-being of passengers and crew members by issuing advisories on handling unruly passengers and sensitizing pilots and crew on dealing with such situations. It’s important for airlines to prioritize safety and security measures to prevent incidents that could put passengers and crew members at risk.
