NCP MLAs Reached Maharashtra Assembly Carrying Onions On Their Head

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLAs on Tuesday reached maharashtra- vidhan- sabha ” Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha carrying onions on their and wearing onion libraries demanding applicable price for onions as prices dipped. Before on Monday, owing to a low noncommercial price of onions, the  growers stopped deals at Nashik’s Lasalgaon Agriculture Produce Market COMMITTEE (APMC).

This was followed by a  kick of the onion-farmers association Maharashtra State Onion farmers’ Association against the government. Due to the gradual decline in onion prices, the  growers began their agitation at the Lasalgaon APMC performing in the cessation of the onion deals. The association demanded that the onions be  sold at the right price. The trade of onions at the transaction was stopped as they were being vended at prices as low as Rs 1/ kg or Rs 2/ kg. A planter, who was also protesting at the  point, said that they dodge a cost of Rs 50,000 per acre to grow onions, while they earn only Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for the yield vended at the deals. He also said that it has come to the point that the growers were considering self-murdera better option, adding the Modi government should extend a helping hand to the growers.

Especially, many days ago Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS) offered a chakka-jam on Shirdi-Surat Highway, citing the decline in onion price. During their strike, the growers had thrown off onions and grapes on the ground to express their resentment against the government. An analogous kick was witnessed when the growers’ association registered their wrathfulness against the governments in both State and Centre, and NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd).

Not only onions but also other vegetables are being  vended at lower prices, giving a hard time to the growers. In another analogous incident, a  planter Ambadas Sahebrao Nikam of Yeola Taluka Kusur vill fed brinjal worth Rs 10,000 to his cattle, as he wasn’t getting a fair price for his crop.
