On “B-Team” Charge, HD Kumaraswamy’s Counter To PM Modi

Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegation that the Janata Dal (Secular) or JD(S) is the “B-team” of the Congress party. Kumaraswamy stated that if the JD(S) is the “B-team,” then the BJP is the “Z-team” of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological parent of the BJP.

He also criticized the PM for not acknowledging the contribution of his father, former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, in the nation’s development. Kumaraswamy also stated that the PM should not make any “loose comments” about his father.

Kumaraswamy’s comments come after PM Modi addressed a rally in Karnataka’s Davanagere district, where he accused the Congress of forming an alliance with the JD(S), whom he referred to as the “B-team.” He also accused the Congress-JD(S) alliance of being anti-farmer and anti-development.

The JD(S) and Congress had formed an alliance in the 2018 Karnataka Assembly elections to keep the BJP from coming to power. The alliance, however, did not last long, as the BJP was able to form the government after several Congress and JD(S) legislators defected to the BJP.

The BJP is now campaigning for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, which are scheduled to take place on May 10. In response to PM Modi’s accusation that the JD(S) and Congress are a “B-Team” that came together to form a government in Karnataka, HD Kumaraswamy, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and leader of the JD(S), said that PM Modi’s remarks were insulting to the people of the state who had voted for the coalition government.

Kumaraswamy said that the alliance between the JD(S) and Congress was formed to provide a stable government in the state and to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Karnataka. He further added that the coalition government had delivered on its promises and had worked towards the development of the state.

He also accused the BJP of trying to destabilize the government by making false allegations against the coalition and by trying to poach the MLAs of the JD(S) and Congress. The JD(S)-Congress coalition government in Karnataka collapsed in 2019 after several MLAs defected to the BJP, which led to the BJP forming the government in the state.
