Yet another incident of violation of Indian airspace by a suspected Pakistani drone has come to light in Punjab’s border area. Border Security Force spotted the drone in Punjab’s Gurdaspur near the Adia post late Wednesday, officers said. According to BSF, this is the fourth case of a Pakistani drone being spotted on the Indian side in the last three days and of the BSF jawans on duty blasting at it and forcing it back to Pakistan. “During the night intermediating of February 7 and 8, BSF force stationed along the border in Amritsar sector detected a drone intruding home from Pakistan in the AIR (area of responsibility) of Baba Peer BOP. The labor force fired on the mischief drone and stationed all counter-drone measures,” the prophet said. The drone “fell down in Pakistan home across the IB (International Border)”, he said.
The incident took place during the intermediating night of February 7- 8 near border post’ Babapir’ in Amritsar sector of Punjab. As a result, the drone, which was returning to Pakistan, fell in the neighbouring country’s home across the border, he added. This is the third drone to be shot down by the BSF along the Punjab border this time. Last time, the BSF captured 22 drones that were being used for smuggling medicines, arms, security and snares from across the border. The BSF before this time said,”The colours of the Punjab Frontier have maintained an extremely high position of alertness and surveillance.
Resultantly, BSF has successfully detected and captured 22 drones and seized 316.988 kgs of heroin, 67 munitions, 850 rounds and killed two Pakistan interferers and restrained 23 Pakistan citizens in different incidents”. Of 492 UAVs or Drones observed on the India Pakistan border from 2020 to December 2023, 311 were observed this time. In 2021, 104 were observed and 77 in 2020.
