Air India passenger travelling from Delhi to Imphal on April 24 has criticised the airline’s staff for allegedly losing one of her kittens at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3 due to their “negligence”. The passenger, Jangneichong Karong, had two pet cats with her and arrived at the airport at 6.30 am for the 9.55 am flight. However, at the check-in counter, the staff informed her that if she wanted to bring the kittens into the cabin, she would have to reschedule her flight or upgrade to business class. After several attempts to bring the kittens on board, she eventually agreed to put them in the cargo hold. However, one of the kittens escaped from the locked cage, and the passenger had to leave without one of her pets. The airline has responded on Twitter and stated that they empathize with the passenger and regret the incident. Air India has asked the passenger for further details to address the issue on priority.
The passenger, Jangneichong Karong, also mentioned in her email to the airline that she had to face physical and mental hassle due to the airline staff’s incapability to handle the situation properly. She also had to ask one of her friends to travel to the airport to pick up the kittens if she was not allowed to travel with them. Ms. Karong stated that this was not acceptable and asked the airline to help her get her lost pet back, or she would be forced to take necessary action against them.
