PM Modi’s mother Heeraben Modi was rushed to Ahmedabad’s UN Mehta Hospital after her health deteriorated. But, later on that night Doctors said that she is fine. On Friday morning at around 3:30 am, Heeraben Modi who was 100 years old took his last breath. PM Modi tweeted on his official Twitter handle,”A glorious century rests at the feet of God”. He wrote,“In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values. When I met her on her 100th birthday, she said one thing – Always remembered – Work with intelligence, live life with purity.”
The UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre said in a bulletin, “Smt. Heeraben Modi passed away on 30/12/2022 at 3.30 am (early morning) during treatment at UN Mehta Heart hospital.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tribute to his mother Heeraben Modi, who passed away on Friday morning, in Gandhinagar. PM Modi reached Gujarat this morning and first paid tribute to her at her Raysan residence. After that he carried the bier with the mortal remains to the crematorium for the last rituals. Heeraben Modi who turned 100 this year, passed away at around 3:30 am today at the UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre in Ahmedabad. She was hospitalised on Wednesday after her health deteriorated. PM Narendra Modi’s brother Somabhai Modi and other family members were also present at the residence of Heeraben Modi. Last rites underway at Muktidham crematorium in Sector 30 of state capital Gandhinagar.
Heeraben Modi, who was 100 years old, lived with PM Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi at Raysan village near Gandhinagar. The Prime Minister would regularly visit Raysan village and spend time with his mother during most of his Gujarat visits.
PM Modi, who was planned to launch the developmental projects in West Bengal, will now join the events through video conferencing.
