In a public meeting held in the Hassan district of Karnataka on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi targeted both Congress and JD(S) ahead of the state assembly elections. He called the parties a “sign of instability” and warned the people against giving the state’s fortune into their hands.
PM Modi accused the Congress of serving a family sitting in Delhi and called JD(S) a “private limited party of a family”. He further said that Congress and JD(S) are showing off that they are opponents but are together on every issue in Parliament.
He warned the people that voting for Congress means putting Karnataka in reverse gear and that every vote cast in favor of JD(S) will go into Congress’ account.
The Prime Minister also ridiculed JD(S) and said that the big faces of the Deve Gowda-led party will put their entire strength in securing their families. He urged the people of Karnataka to end the decades of ‘jod-thod’ (coalition) politics and said that Congress and JDS both are signs of instability.
Hassan district, which is a JDS bastion, had witnessed JDS winning six out of seven assembly seats in 2018, while BJP had won one (Hassan segment). PM Modi’s remarks came as part of BJP’s campaign to win more seats in the upcoming assembly elections and form a government in the state.
