Fans of the Indian epic film, Ponniyin Selvan 2, directed by Mani Ratnam, have been treated to a series of unseen pictures from the sets of the film. Celebrated costume designer, Eka Lakhani, shared an album that included photographs of the cast and crew, including Karthi, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Trisha, who plays Chola Princess Kundavai in the film. The photo of Trisha with a fan caught the attention of many, with the actress appearing to be waiting for her shoot in her costume on a boat.
The album, captioned “Who said it was all fun and no play!? PS-2”, showed the cast and crew having fun while working hard, with some photographs showing Karthi with fake blood and injuries, and others featuring Aishwarya Lekshmi wearing cool shades. The film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular historical novel Ponniyin Selvan (The Son Of Ponni), opened to positive reviews at the box office last week.
The story is set against the Chola dynasty and is split into two parts, with the second part released on April 28 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. The release of Ponniyin Selvan – 2 has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with fans eagerly awaiting the next installment.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Vikram, who has now begun shooting for his upcoming film, Thangalaan. However, Vikram recently sustained a rib injury during rehearsals and will not be able to join his Thangalaan unit for a short while. In a tweet, Vikram’s manager, Suryanarayanan M, thanked fans for their support and promised that the actor would be back on his feet soon.
The release of Ponniyin Selvan – 2 has been a massive success, with the film continuing to attract audiences to cinemas across India. With its stunning visuals, captivating storyline, and incredible performances, it is clear that Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus has lived up to the hype and is sure to go down in Indian cinema history as a classic.
