Former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik has denied that he raised questions about the 2019 Pulwama terror attack only after leaving office. Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent statement that he was “levelling allegations after parting ways with us”, Malik stated that he had raised the issue on the day of the attack itself. Malik had recently alleged intelligence failures and that the central government denied aircraft for the movement of security personnel during the Pulwama attack in which 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed. Regarding the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Malik wished them well but added that in politics and elections, no one knows what will happen. To a question about the allegation that the CBI’s recent summons to Mr Malik was linked to his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government, Home Minister Amit Shah said such a charge is not true as he was called by the probe agency earlier too. Home Minister Amit Shah denied that the recent CBI summons to former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik was linked to his criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. Malik had raised questions over the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and alleged intelligence failures, which had led to some speculation that the summons was politically motivated. Former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed his opinion that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) projects Vasundhara Raje as its chief ministerial candidate in the upcoming assembly elections in Rajasthan, the party’s chances of winning will increase. The elections are scheduled to be held later this year. Raje is a senior BJP leader who has previously served as the chief minister of Rajasthan for two terms from 2003 to 2018.
