Sankranti is a three day festival for the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In Telugu states People  embellish their houses with marigold flowers and mango leaves. People fill the front yard of the house with rangolis and they keep cow  soil balls called Gobbemma.  The state government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have also organized  colorful artistic programs and events to mark the occasion.

Numerous  monuments in the state have also been decorated with lights and flowers to celebrate the  jubilee. Townlets and  municipalities across in both the states came alive with traditional  festivals to mark the major crop  jubilee.  Sankranti is a major  jubilee, which highlights the rich Telugu culture.  Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, Ministers, MPs and Telangana state chief Minister K. Chandrasekar Rao also  shared Bhogi at  colorful places. Leaders of  colorful political parties and  officers also took part in ‘ Bhogi ’.  

A  gleeful atmosphere prevailed in domestic colonies in Hyderabad and the outskirts besides Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and other  municipalities and  townlets in both the  countries.  Lakhs of people employed in Hyderabad headed to their homes in  colorful  sections of both the states. State road transport  ports of Andhra Pradesh operated special  buses and Railroads operated special trains to carry people to their destinations from Hyderabad.  Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and Chief MinisterK. Chandrasekhar Rao wished people on Sankranti.
