Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Sanjay Raut, has claimed that NCP Chief, Sharad Pawar, recently told Uddhav Thackeray that his party will never join hands with the BJP even if anyone takes an individual decision to do so. Mr Raut made the comments in his weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ in the party mouthpiece Saamana in the wake of speculations that senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar may break ranks to join hands with the ruling BJP in the state, amid a plea seeking disqualification of 16 MLAs of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena pending before the Supreme Court. The NCP, Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), and the Congress are constituents of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the state.Based on the information provided, it appears that Ajit Pawar is suggesting that even if 16 MLAs are disqualified, the present government in Maharashtra will still have a majority with 149 MLAs out of the effective strength of 272. This implies that the government is confident in its ability to maintain power and pass legislation even with the loss of 16 MLAs. It remains to be seen whether any MLAs will be disqualified and how this may affect the balance of power in the Maharashtra Assembly. It seems like various leaders from different political parties are actively participating in rallies and speaking to the public to garner support for their respective parties. It is common for political leaders to engage in campaigning and hold public rallies before elections to appeal to the voters and showcase their party’s agenda and vision for the state or country.
