Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav’s statement on forming an alliance of opposition parties to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Yadav expressed hope that chief ministers of various states and regional parties would come together to form a front against the BJP. He also suggested that the Congress should join forces with regional parties in their strongholds to take on the BJP. However, he clarified that since the Congress is a big party, the SP is not giving any suggestions to it, but presenting its point of view. Yadav also criticized the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government’s alleged discrimination on the basis of caste and religion and their involvement in fake encounters. Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue of “fake encounters” in Uttar Pradesh and alleged that people were being killed in such encounters “in view of elections.” He expressed faith in the judiciary and suggested that those who feel their kin have been killed in fake encounters should go to court against it. Yadav also questioned why the UP government was allegedly discriminating against people on the basis of caste and religion and accused the BJP of wanting to divide society to rule.

He also mentioned that the judiciary can take suo motu cognisance of cases of fake encounters.
The deaths of gangsters in police encounters in Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav clarified that his party was not with any criminal. However, he questioned the alleged discrimination of the UP government against people on the basis of caste and religion. He further criticized the BJP, asking “In which direction are you taking the country?” and accusing them of wanting to divide society to rule.
