Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan has made history at the box office. As per numbers participated by SRK’s director Pooja Dadlani, the film has made Rs 313 crore gross worldwide. The bill declares Pathaan’s collections as the loftiest grossing opening weekend in the history of Indian cinema. The breakdown of figures suggests that the film made Rs 201 crore gross in the domestic request, with Rs 166 crore net. The overseas collection stands at Rs 112 crore gross.
After the huge opening, Pathaan went on to make yet another record collection on the alternate day which was a vacation (Republic Day) in India. By the end of day two, the film grossed $26.8 million worldwide. It grossed $14.7 million in India alone by alternate day, and is the loftiest single- day collection for a film in India. The film also features Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana in important places. Patron and film business critic Girish Johar adds, “The silence of the entire platoon, the boycott calls also took the hype to another position”.
Pathaan’s opening weekend has stunned the followership and the trade likewise. Prior to this film, similar emotional collections were seen by Yash starrer KGF 2 (Hindi) that managed to troll in Rs 193.99 crore during its 4- day opening weekend, as per Bollywood Hungama. Salman Khan starrer Sultan had an opening weekend of Rs 180.36 crore, followed by Siddharth Anand’s former film War, which had a Rs 50 crore plus opening day, but could only bring Rs 166.25 crore during its opening weekend.
