The Congress party in India has criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the violent situation in Manipur, a northeastern state in the country. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused the BJP of destroying peace in the state through its “politics of hate” and creating divisions among communities. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge called for restraint from all sides and urged the BJP government in Manipur to be dismissed and President’s Rule imposed. The Congress also demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah be sacked due to the breakdown of law and order and constitutional machinery in the state. The Manipur government has issued “shoot at sight” orders to contain the spiraling violence between tribals and the majority Meitei community.
It is really tragic what has happened in Manipur. All sections of Manipur’s diverse society are unhappy, up in flames, youths dissatisfied, tribals dissatisfied, non-tribal communities dissatisfied. This is a betrayal of the people’s mandate,” he said.
It’s indeed concerning to hear about the current situation in Manipur, and it’s important to take action to restore peace and normalcy in the state. The government and relevant authorities should work towards addressing the issues and concerns of all sections of the society, especially the dissatisfied youths, tribals, and non-tribal communities. It’s crucial to ensure that all parties involved exercise restraint and avoid any further violence or disruption of law and order.
