Disagreements between the government and the judiciary persisted over the appointment of judges. Meanwhile, Federal Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju has questioned the publication of the IB and RAW reports. He expressed his concerns about this.

Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday: “The IB and RAW reports have been released by the Supreme Court. This is a serious concern,” he said, adding that intelligence officials secretly work for the country. Once their report is published, they will think twice before working in the future.

Rijiju answered several questions posed by the Supreme Court University. The IB and RAW announced last week some of the names recommended by the Supreme Court for appointment to High Court judges. At the same time, Kiren Riziju reiterated that government and judiciary should come together. He said joint efforts by the government and the judiciary would help reduce the number of cases pending in the country.

Judges do not face performance evaluations.
Earlier on Monday, Rijiju said that since judges are not elected, they are not subject to people’s evaluation of their performance and cannot be changed by the people. That’s not true at all, he said. there is no problem between us. Arguments and debates are part of democratic culture.
Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday said it was a “serious concern” that certain parts of classified reports by the Intelligence Service and Research and Analysis Division had been released by the Supreme Court’s colleges. said they work undercover for the country and will “think twice” about making their reports public in the future.
He was answering questions about the recent Supreme Court Collegium Resolution. This includes portions of his IB and RAW reports on certain names the Supreme Court recommended for appointment to High Court Judges, published last week.
The Collegium had reiterated its recommendation to elevate Mr. Kirpal as a judge.
“From Letters of the Research & Analysis Wing (RAW) dated 11 April 2019 and 18 March 2021, to the College’s recommendation of the Court dated 11 November 2021, endorsing the name of Shri Saurabh Kirpal viz: (i) Shri Saurabh Kirpal’s partner is a Swiss citizen and (ii) he is in a close relationship and speaks openly about his sexual orientation.
