A Delhi court has ordered the judicial custody of Sukanya Mondal, daughter of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal, till May 12 in a money laundering case related to alleged cattle smuggling at the India-Bangladesh border. The decision was made after her three-day custodial interrogation ended.
The Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) Special Public Prosecutor Nitesh Rana informed the court that the accused was not required for further investigation. Sukanya Mondal, a primary school teacher in West Bengal’s Birbhum district, was arrested on April 26 by the ED. Her father is already in judicial custody in connection with the case.
The ED has filed two charge sheets in the cattle smuggling case, and assets worth a total of ₹ 20.25 crore have been attached.
