Chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said that Visakhapatnam would be the Andhra Pradesh capital in coming months. “I’m then to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which will be our capital. I’ll also be shifting to Vizag, ” said the Andhra Pradesh CM. “I invite you and your associates to see for yourself how easy it’s to do business in Andhra Pradesh,” CM Reddy added.
The principal statement also came at a time when the Supreme Court was hearing the case on Amaravati as capital. The state government had challenged the judgement of the AP high court which wanted the state government to develop Amaravati as the capital. The case was heard in the Supreme Court on Tuesday. In 2015, also principal minister Chandrababu Naidu said Amaravati would be the capital but, five times later, an offer to have three capital metropolises was floated. Under that scheme Visakhapatnam and Kurnool would join Amaravati; the ultimate would be the legislative centre of power, Kurnool the judicial capital and Visakhapatnam would become the administrative capital of Andhra Pradesh.
In March last time the Andhra Pradesh High Court ruled against the plan to have three centrals and told the government to develop Amaravati. The court said the council demanded the ability to make similar opinions. In November the state repealed the law that intended to establish three capital metropolises and promised a comprehensive, complete and better offer.
