Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag criticized the media for repeatedly asking MS Dhoni about his retirement plans from cricket after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The Chennai Super Kings skipper was asked by commentator Danny Morrison whether this was his final season before their match against Lucknow Super Giants, to which Dhoni cleverly replied that it was the experts who were saying so, not him. Sehwag expressed his displeasure and said that Dhoni should not have to constantly answer these kinds of questions and that he will let people know about his decision when the time is right.
The match between Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings was called off due to rain, forcing them to split points. With continuous rain at the Ekana Stadium, only 19.2 overs of the LSG innings were played, during which they made 125 for seven, thanks to Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten 59. The Chennai Super Kings bowlers Moeen Ali and Maheesh Theekshana impressed by taking early wickets.
The game had already been delayed for 15 minutes due to a wet outfield, and the rain returned in the final over of the first innings, halting play for the entire match. The result meant that Chennai Super Kings remained in second place with 14 points, while Lucknow Super Giants stayed in seventh place with eight points.
Despite the disappointment of the match being called off, both teams will have a chance to bounce back in their next matches. Chennai Super Kings will take on Delhi Capitals in their next game, while Lucknow Super Giants will face Punjab Kings.
