The Lucknow Super Giants’ journey in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) ended after being knocked out in the Eliminator round. Unfortunately, their skipper KL Rahul’s campaign was cut short due to an injury that forced him to step down from his captaincy midway through the season. However, Rahul found himself at the center of social media speculation over the weekend, as rumors of him visiting an adult-themed nightclub in the United Kingdom went viral. In response, his wife Athiya Shetty took to social media to slam the rumors and clarify the situation.
In an Instagram story, Shetty addressed the rumors, stating, “I usually choose to be silent and not react, but sometimes it’s important to stand up for yourself. Rahul, I, and our friends went to a regular place, as one does. Stop taking things out of context and check your facts before reporting. Peace and love.” Her statement aimed to dispel the unfounded claims and urged people to refrain from spreading misinformation.
Despite the off-field controversy, Rahul’s focus remains on his recovery from the injury. He recently underwent thigh surgery after sustaining the injury during a league match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The surgery not only ruled him out of the remainder of the IPL season but also forced him to miss the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against Australia, scheduled to begin on June 6.
Rahul himself shared the news of his unavailability for the WTC final on Instagram, expressing his disappointment. He wrote, “Absolutely gutted that I won’t be at the Oval next month with Team India. I’ll do everything I can to get back in the blue and help my country. That has always been my focus and priority.” The post reflected his determination to recover fully and return to the Indian team as soon as possible.
Looking ahead, Rahul will be hoping for a speedy rehabilitation and recovery as Team India gears up for a challenging year, including upcoming events like the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup. His absence from the team will be felt, but his primary focus remains on regaining full fitness to contribute to his country’s cricketing success in the future.
