A Heavy Snowfall is Expected in Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir, Government Issued Yellow Alert

In view of anticipated heavy downfall, an alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh’s advanced hill areas including popular  sightseer spots like Chamba, Spiti, Kullu, Shimla by the Indian Meteorological Department, ANI reported. An alert for heavy snowfall has been issued in advanced areas of Himachal Pradesh including Chamba, Spiti, Kullu, Shimla. Duration of snowfall was longer in comparison to previous years. Coming 48 hrs will be extremely cold with heavy snowfall Surender Paul, IMD head, HP. An analogous situation prevailed in the neighbouring state of Uttarakhand, where business on crucial public  roadways was  disrupted for hours on Tuesday after snow accumulated on the roads. The rainfall department has predicted that conditions may ameliorate from Wednesday morning.  The state meteorological department also  predicts bad rainfall in the advanced  rung of the state. The elderly scientist at IMD Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that there will be another spell of rain and snowfall in the region. As per the Indian Meteorological Centre, the  insulated spells of heavy  downfall and snowfall are  veritably likely to  do in  sections of Kinnaur, Lahaul- Spiti, Kullu and advanced  rung of Shimla, Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and touching areas from late Wednesday night to Thursday. Occasional development of showers and lightning likely to  do in isolated  corridor of the State during the period. Fall in minimal temperatures by average 3- 4 degrees Celsius in the state from Thursday onwards is also forecast. Meanwhile, the state disaster operation authority has issued a medium peril- position warning for avalanches in Chamba, Kinnaur, Kullu and Lahaul- Spiti sections that are above altitude of 500 m in the coming 24 hours. The chances of avalanche are more in Kullu quarter between Solang and Atal lair, Kothi to Rohtang pass and Lahaul.
