The Delhi Assembly on Thursday approved an additional fund of Rs 1,028 crore for the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and a decision to speed up the work of cleaning the Yamuna. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has accused the Lieutenant Governor of trying to stop the work of cleaning the Yamuna River.

The Delhi Assembly has approved the release of an additional fund of Rs 1028 crore under the current financial year for the cleaning of the Yamuna. Finance Minister Manish Sisodia had presented the report for the demand for supplementary grant in the House on Thursday. In this, approval was sought from the assembly for providing additional funds for different works.
Manish Sisodia said that the LG also made every effort to stop the work of cleaning the Yamuna by putting pressure on the officers. Despite the budget being approved by the House, the works of the Jal Board were also stopped. When the work on the projects did not stop even after putting lakhs of hurdles, they stopped the funds.
Despite this, the work of cleaning the Yamuna is going on and the Delhi government will not let it stop. He said that the government has not only released the stalled funds of the Delhi Jal Board, but has also passed an additional budget of Rs 1,028 crore for cleaning the Yamuna, so that the work of cleaning the Yamuna can be expedited.
Sisodia said that Chief Minister Kejriwal has promised that the Yamuna will be clean before the next elections. The Delhi government is working on a war footing in this direction. While giving priority to the cleaning of Yamuna, the CM himself is taking progress reports from the officials for the cleaning of each and every drain and the work going on in the Sewage Treatment Plant. No matter how much the BJP and LG try, the Delhi government will clean the Yamuna.
Apart from cleaning the Yamuna, demands for supplementary grants have also been approved for other projects of the Delhi government and for expediting works of public interest. 100 crores in Mukhyamantri Sadak Yojana, 49 crores for development works in Trans Yamuna area, about 800 crores for maintenance of PWD roads, construction of additional classrooms in schools, re-modelling of hospitals etc., for irrigation and flood control department 75 crores, 8 crores for Chhath Ghats, 25 crores for honoring martyrs, 50 crores for Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana, 75 crores for SC-ST Welfare, 50 crores for DGHS, Hospital Fund 364 Crore, 78 Crore for Higher Education, 199 Crore for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, 130 Crore for Uniform Subsidy, 114 Crore for Mid Day Meal, 60 Crore for Law Department,
